The monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov

Marshal Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov is often called «The Victory Marshal» thanks to his services during the Great Patriotic war. He is a four times Hero of the Soviet Union. On May 8, 1995 during celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Great Victory over the Hitlerites, the monument to the great military leader was unveiled near the walls of the History Museum in the very center of Moscow. The author of the monument is V.M. Klykov.

According to the author, it was initially planned to erect the monument to Zhukov opposite the monument to the Motherland saviors – Minin and Pozharsky. The author thinks, that at present, the monument is located too close to the museum wall and looses in illumination.
